Akasa Air Leadership Transition: CCO Praveen Iyer to Step Down

Akasa Air announced on Wednesday that co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer Praveen Iyer has resigned and will officially exit the carrier at the end of April. Iyer, who was instrumental in shaping the airline’s commercial strategy and revenue management from its inception, represents the second co-founder to leave following the October 2025 departure of Neelu Khatri, the former head of International Operations. This transition comes on the heels of a broader management churn observed throughout 2025, which saw several senior executives—including the heads of in-flight services, strategy, and aircraft leasing—move on to other roles or personal endeavors.

In response to the vacancy, Akasa Air has elevated co-founder and Chief Information Officer Anand Srinivasan to the role of Chief Commercial Officer. CEO Vinay Dube expressed strong confidence in the move, highlighting Srinivasan’s deep expertise in revenue algorithms and his role as one of the early architects of the airline’s digital infrastructure. While the search for a new CIO begins, the airline’s IT functions will temporarily report to CFO Ankur Goel. Despite these shifts in the front office, Akasa Air remains on a steady growth trajectory, currently operating a fleet of 33 aircraft with over 190 Boeing jets still on order, and maintaining a 10% year-on-year increase in weekly flight frequency.
