Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced that India is set to begin a new phase of technology-driven organic agriculture, marking a significant shift towards sustainable and modern farming practices.
Addressing the Kisan Kumbh in New Delhi, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways said that the country will increasingly adopt advanced technologies to enhance farming efficiency and productivity. He emphasised that innovations such as Artificial Intelligence, satellite monitoring, and eco-friendly techniques will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Indian agriculture.
Gadkari noted that the integration of modern technology with organic farming will not only reduce input costs but also improve crop yields, benefiting farmers across the country. He highlighted that this transition aims to make agriculture more sustainable while ensuring higher income for farmers.
The Minister also underlined the importance of strengthening market systems to ensure that farmers receive fair and better returns for their organic produce. Improved market access and value chains, he said, will be key to the success of this new agricultural phase.
Highlighting inclusivity in the sector, Gadkari described the participation of over 2,000 women farmers at the event as a significant achievement, reflecting the growing role of women in India’s agricultural transformation.
The announcement signals a major step towards combining traditional farming wisdom with cutting-edge technology, positioning India for a more sustainable and resilient agricultural future.
